Spring is here and I am so excited about this post as it talks about healthy living in a luxurious way. With the new season in the air, it is time for new things and it is all about everything bright and colorful and how else to welcome it if not by jewelry of course (a girls best friend *wink wink*). So I found out that an acquaintance of mine from high school is the founder and designer of Yarn Fabric Accessories based in the North-West Province and I couldn't resist but to ask her to do a feature on my blog. Her name is Ke-Wame Lebatlang, a proud wife and mother to a daughter and her designs J
I saw her designs on Facebook and I was taken away by them, so much so that I decided to do research on what yarn is and this is what I found. Yarn is a spurn thread from common plant fibers such as cotton and/or polyester used for knitting, weaving and sowing. It doesn't even end there, I also found 12 (amongst others) benefits of Yarn and they are as follows:
1. It is natural,
2. It is a synthetic fiber,
3. It is a renewable fiber,
4. It bends far more than traditional materials,
5. It is soft, luxurious and gentle,
6. It is naturally elastic,
7. It absorbs heat and evaporates it,
8. It is warm during the cold and cool during summer,
9. It doesn't create static electricity,
10. It is machine washable and tumble dry,
11. It absorbs UV radiation providing protection from the sun and
12. It is sensitive to the skin (not prickly or itchy).
How amazing is that? So amazing that I'm giving away 3 prizes from Yarn Fabric Accessories (with an Essence gel nail polish). Yap, you read right. All you have to do is these 3 simple things:
1. Shower my Facebook timeline (Lebohang Tumelo) by telling me one of the accessory names as well as their prizes from Yarn Fabric Accessories by using #YarnFabricAccessories, name of the accessory and price.
2. Go and like the Yarn Fabric Accessories page on Facebook and
3. Follow me on Instagram (@LeboTumelo)
That simple, right? Here is what you stand to win
1. The Summer Tan necklace valued from R60 to a R100,
2. The All Yarn with Essence gel nail polish valued from R25 to R120 and
3. The Lady Next Door valued from R30 to a R100.
Without further do, here to tell you more about Yarn Fabric Accessories, Mrs Ke-Wame Lebatlang.
What inspired me to start my business is the challenge that we are faced with as women with regards to our sensitive skin when it comes to plated chains and the marks it leaves on our skin. We all love to feel and look good in all dimensions without the irritation or itchiness of the jewelry we wear. I am here to tell you that there’s still hope for you to accessories in season.
Hi, my name is Ke-wame Lebatlang, founder and designer of Yarn Fabric Accessories. My designs are made from fabrics called Yarn, this is where I found the name of my business J. I wanted a simple, catchy name
that would describe the material used in the accessories as well as the designs of the accessories.
When I first started designing these accessories, it made me realize how passionate I
am about art and gave me the confidence to express that through my designs as an artist and a
designer in this business. This is what I’m passionate about, turning art
into “allergex”, which makes it a phenomenal work of art that appeals to the
eyes and penetrates to the soul and in turn, shows beauty.
There are 5 types
of accessory pieces that I make, namely:
The ALL YARN accessory:
This is specially made for the ladies with/without
allergies with the sole use of yarn fabric. The price ranges from R25 – R120.
A set of a
necklace and bracelet costs R100.
The NATIVE AFRICAN accessory: This is a blend of beads and the fabric. It ranges from R50-R150.
The LIL
CUTIE accessory: This is specially made for the children with/without
allergies with the sole use of yarn fabric. This ranges from R20-R50. A set of
a necklace and bracelet costs R50.
The SUMMER TAN accessory: This piece is best worn with a tan top/ summer dress and it costs R60 - R100.
The LADY
NEXT DOOR accessory: This is specially made for the ladies without
allergies to plated chains and has a tint of fabric in it too. This is best
worn with smart casual outfit. This ranges from R30-R100.
The yarn is made out of cotton and some polyester fibers, the material doesn't make you feel hot during the summer and it is elastic which means that it goes back to shape. When washing your neck-piece, use cold water and detergent. Then rub it gently with your hands so that you don't ruin the knit. Do not use a washing machine and do not tumble dry. Hang it in a way that the knit won't be ruined to maintain the shape. During winter, the material won't make you feel warm against your body as little material is used on each piece.
My future plans are for my business to grow so that I can employ more women whom I will empower to be artists, designers and business women. As the African saying goes: United we stand, divided we fall and I know that African women are capable of working together and enriching our land for generations to come.
My message to you all is this: It is never too late to find your talents and to make them earn you a living. It is not easy, it wasn’t easy
for me either, but have hope and work like a slave, to live like a QUEEN.
You can contact me on my Facebook page for orders: Yarn Fabric Accessories. Keep your eyes fixed there for I will be
posting more designs soon.
